School Estate's Texas real estate agent license course is a TREC-approved, 180-hour qualifying education program: six 30-hour courses (Principles of Real Estate I & II, Law of Agency, Law of Contracts, Promulgated Contract Forms, and Real Estate Finance) that the Texas Real Estate Commission (TREC) requires to become eligible for a Texas real estate sales agent license. It's taken entirely online through School Estate, TREC provider #4546QP, and every course pairs with a personal mentor instructor and daily live Zoom study groups, so studying at your own pace never means studying alone. Most students finish the coursework in about 7 weeks and are licensed and connected with a sponsoring broker within about 10.

Six courses. Identical in both packages.
X6 and X6+ include the exact same six TREC-required courses, 30 hours each, 180 hours total. Nothing required is held back for the higher tier, the Accelerator adds printed materials and career coaching on top, not additional coursework you have to sit through. Every course is self-paced — study when it fits your life, backed by daily live Zoom study groups and your mentor instructor.
Course final exams
Each 30-hour course ends with a final exam you take online: open book, not proctored, 70% to pass, with two attempts. That's separate from the proctored state licensing exam at Pearson VUE.
TREC's 12-hour daily limit
TREC allows no more than 12 hours of course credit a day, so each course takes at least 3 days and all six at least about 18. You can work on several courses at once; only the final exams are spaced out. Our students average about 7 weeks.
6 months of access
Your courses stay open for 6 months from enrollment, available 24/7 on a computer, phone, or tablet. Your mentor instructor builds a pacing plan around the timeline you choose.
After you're licensed: your real estate career
Your first renewal requires 98 hours of Sales Agent Apprentice Education; after that, every two-year license renewal needs 18 hours of continuing education (CE classes), including 8 hours of TREC Legal Update.
5 steps to your Texas real estate license.
Most students finish the coursework in about 7 weeks and are licensed and connected with a sponsoring broker within about 10. See the full week-by-week timeline for exactly how long each step takes.
Check your eligibility
Texas pre-licensing requirements are short: you need to be 18 or older, a U.S. citizen or lawfully admitted alien, and meet TREC's standards for honesty, trustworthiness, and integrity. No degree required.
Complete the required education
First, create a free TREC REALM account (an account only, not an application). TREC emails you a Pre-Licensing Education Application Number, which we ask for when you launch your first course. Then finish all six 30-hour TREC-approved courses, 180 hours in all; School Estate reports each completion to TREC under that number.
Apply to the Texas Real Estate Commission
Once you've completed all six courses, file your sales agent application in REALM ($206, about 15 minutes), then get fingerprinted ($37) for your DPS/FBI background check. Your exam authorization follows once all six courses are reported; TREC says to allow up to four weeks.
Pass the state exam
Schedule with Pearson VUE online or by phone ($43) and pass both the National and State portions within one year of applying. On exam day, bring two current forms of signed ID.
Get sponsored by a broker

The state exam has two portions: National (80 scored questions plus 5 unscored, 150 minutes, 56 correct to pass) and State (40 scored plus 10 unscored, 90 minutes, 28 correct to pass).
