FAQ

How much does it cost to renew a Texas real estate license?

Renewing is two separate costs: TREC's own filing fee, and your required continuing education. Neither one covers the other.

  • TREC renewal fee: $110 total ($66 renewal fee + $4 Texas Online Fee + $40 Real Estate Recovery Fee), due every 2 years, if paid on time.
  • Continuing education:18 hours of TREC-approved CE is required each cycle. School Estate's Texas CE package (Sales Agent or Broker) is $79.

All in, most students land around $189 per 2-year renewal cycle.

What if you're late, or not done with CE yet?

  • Late renewal, under 90 days past expiration: $143 total (adds a $33 late fee).
  • Late renewal, over 90 days past expiration: $176 total (adds two $33 late fees).
  • Haven't finished your CE hours yet? Pay a $200 CE Deferral Fee before your license expires to keep it active and get 60 more days to finish your hours.
  • More than 2 years past expiration:you'll need to reapply and retake the state exam, not just pay a late fee.
