How to connect your TREC license to a Google Business Profile.
A properly set-up Google Business Profile is one of the simplest ways to build a real local presence, done right, it also stays consistent with TREC's own advertising rules.
From active license to a live profile.
Your Google Business Profile represents real, licensed work under a sponsoring broker, set it up once that's in place, not as a placeholder before you're licensed.
Set up your listing at business.google.com. Check your brokerage's branding rules first, some brokerages have specific requirements for how individual agents can present themselves online.
'Real Estate Agent' is the standard Google category for an individual licensee, distinct from 'Real Estate Agency,' which is typically your brokerage's own listing.
TREC's advertising rule (535.155) requires your name to appear in a readily noticeable location, along with your broker's name at least half the size of the largest contact information shown. Make sure your listed name and brokerage match what's on file with TREC.
Google verifies new profiles by phone, text, email, or postcard, depending on your business type. Follow whichever method Google offers you.
Your GBP, MLS profile, association listing, and TREC's own public license lookup should all show the same current sponsoring broker. Update all of them together whenever you change brokerages, inconsistent info across platforms can look unprofessional.
Ask actual clients for reviews once a transaction closes. Never write your own or offer anything in exchange for one, Google's policy prohibits incentivized or fake reviews.
