Blaise Timco got into the mortgage business in the mid-1980s in San Diego, and within two years had started his own mortgage company. While running it, he earned his Texas real estate broker's license and expanded into real estate. He's been licensed ever since.

Why School Estate exists

After selling his mortgage and real estate company, Blaise was figuring out his next move when he started noticing something: real estate education in Texas had almost no real competition, and it showed. Talking to hundreds of agents he already knew from the mortgage and real estate world, he kept hearing the same two complaints: students couldn't pass the exam, and continuing education cost far more than it should. School Estate started in 2004 to fix both problems at once, and later developed its own designation coursework, including the Five Day Method, built specifically to help agents launch faster.

Why students ask him about everything, not just real estate

Over more than 25 years, Blaise has also founded and built ventures well outside real estate, including an early digital-first gaming platform, Voyage Labs, that grew to hundreds of thousands of users before a strategic buyout, and some of the earliest digital lead-generation platforms in financial services, built before most of the internet as we know it existed. Students ask him about business, marketing, career changes, and plenty that has nothing to do with a licensing exam. That range is exactly why.

Not alone on this, from day one

Natalie has been School Estate's student administrator since the very beginning, and helped build the company from the ground floor. Twenty years later, she's still the one running student administration.

Still building, one generation over

A year ago, Blaise partnered with his son Sawyer to launch Make a Nest, a website development platform built for real estate agents. Two decades after starting School Estate, he's still finding new ways to help people in this industry build something real.
