2. Must have been licensed as a Salesperson or out of state Broker for at least 4 of the past 5 years
3. 3600 points of Qualifying Practical Experience
4. Take Broker Exam Prep Course
5. Sit for the Broker State Exams
To be eligible to apply for a Real Estate Broker License in Texas, one must supply the Texas Real Estate Commission (TREC) evidence of completing the following (A&C or B&C):
A. At least 4 years active experience in Texas as a Licensed Real Estate Salesperson or Broker during the 5 year period prior to the filing of the application;
OR
B. Licensed as a Broker in another state, not less than 4 years active experience as a Licensed Real Estate Salesperson or Broker during the 5 year period prior to the filing of the application.
AND
C. An applicant must have accumulated a minimum of 3600 points (known as qualifying practical experience) during 4 out of 5 years as required by the Texas Real Estate Commission (TREC). One of the following supplemental forms promulgated by the commission must be used to report this credits:
(1) To report qualifying experience with an application use TREC No. BL-A.
(2) If you have already applied for a Broker’s License and now need to report qualifying experience use TREC NO. BL-B,

Submit your Application for Brokers license and Educational Documents to the “MyLicense” system.

Submit your application for an Inactive Broker License to TREC in the “My License” system on the Texas Real Estate Commission’s website. Set up a user ID and password and follow the steps to create an account. Once an account is created you will apply for a new license.

If you have submitted your Broker Sponsorship Form already, your license will be mailed to your sponsoring broker within 7-10 days of passing the exam. Otherwise, you will be considered “inactive” until you choose a broker and submit the Salesperson Sponsorship Form.

You can submit your Broker Sponsorship to TREC in one of two ways:
1. Fill out the Broker Sponsorship Form and mail it to TREC
2. Login to your TREC account at My License Online Services and drop down the menu below “Change your license information and manage relationships” and select “Manage my Sponsorship”. Here you can electronically request sponsorship from your broker. You will need your perspective broker’s name and broker number.
