STEPS FOR OBTAINING
YOUR REAL ESTATE SALESPERSON LICENSE
Step 1
- Determine Needs:
Determine the courses you need by viewing Texas
Requirements or call School Estate at:

Students WITH
prior qualifying college credit are required
to complete FIVE core courses (150 hours).
Qualifying college credit is defined as only four
semester hours (60 classroom hours)
in "Core" or "Related" courses.
In other words, if you do not have at least
four semester hours of related
college credits then you must take SEVEN
classes vs. FIVE. The 5 Course and 7 Course
packages (everything you need to get your
license) can be found here.
Applicants WITHOUT qualifying
college credit are required to complete SEVEN courses
(210 hours total). The seven course package
can be found here.
Step
2 - Take Courses: Order and
complete your courses with School Estate.
Step
3 - TREC Evaluation:
After completing your courses, send a copy of your
transcripts (if applicable) and/or certificates
to The Texas Real Estate Commission (TREC) to be
evaluated. There is a $30.00 fee for this TREC
evaluation. This evaluation is good for one (1)
year.

Step
4 - Application:
Your application can be submitted for a ACTIVE
or INACTIVE license. To become an active texas
licensed real estate salesperson you must be sponsored
by a broker and in turn, submit the "Request
to Sponsor Salesperson" form along with the
application. An INACTIVE license requires no additional
forms. The Texas Real Estate Salesperson License
exam must be passed within six (6) months from
the date the application is filed with the Texas
Real Estate Commission. Apply

Step
5 - Schedule Exam:
TREC mails a Candidate Information Brochure (CIB)
with sample questions, general information about
the state test and toll free number to schedule
your exam.
Step
6 - Take and Pass the Exam:
Pass the state exam and enjoy your new career in TEXAS
REAL ESTATE with your Texas Real
Estate Salesperson License, from School
